Indian practice (IS 1944) recommends 5 to 10 lux maintained on the task plane with uniformity of at least 0.3. New installations should target 20–30% above the maintained value to allow for lamp depreciation and dirt.
What mounting height is typical for residential / internal roads?
Around 6 m is typical. Higher mounting needs more lumens per fixture or closer spacing to keep uniformity.
